The variant path

The path of “Au fil de l’eau” can, at a certain point, widen. Like a stream that splits, this loop variant starts from the Moulin bridge and climbs up the sunny side of the valley – the Adret – crossing the hamlets of Rosier, Mellier, and Echelly, before rejoining the road and descending back to the starting point.

Here, the landscape changes: the woods open up, the light accompanies your steps, and from above your gaze embraces the lower hamlets of Champorcher, like a mosaic of stories interwoven at the bottom of the valley.

Switching to the opposite slope also means meeting new plant presences: notice how the forest transforms, hosting sun-loving species such as Scots pine and larch. Silent signs of the dialogue between exposure, soil, and history.

A stretch of about 3.5 km, 350 meters of elevation gain, and around one hour and forty minutes of walking.

If you choose this detour, do so with an open eye to Nature’s adaptability. The different amount of light changes the forest’s composition.
